yay...3rd day on here! is that a record or something?
1. lara bar
2. banana
3. string cheese
4. half tuna sandwich
5. strawberry banana yogurt
6. handful of trail mix
7. handful of carrots
8. southwestern salad-homemade--grilled chicken, avocado slices, corn, black beans, onions (last 3 were sauteed in a tablespoon of olive oil), a tiny handful of low-fat cheese, salad greens, and 3 big tablespoons of salsa with 1 or 2 tablespoons of ranch mixed in---KEEP IN MIND that my husband (chance) ate a big portion of this salad--i only had a bowl full--so i did not the ENTIRE contents of this HUGE salad lol!
That's what I ate today..I have found I don't really eat "meals"...I just sorta eat throughout the day...which is apparently good if you eat tiny meals/snacks throughout the day every few hours--it's supposed to be good for your metabolism! however, i'm still working on knowing what's "good" and what's "bad." I find that snacking throughout the day works best for me though...any feedback on the contents of what I ate today/how I can improve are always appreciated. For once I don't feel stuffed or starving..I feel satiated!!

day two!
so, i think i finished pretty strong last night! i had 2 more wasa crackers with salsa (for a total of 4), a banana, a handful of almonds, a string cheese, 27 cracker chips, and some cereal...probably more than i should have in a day, but i'm working on making healthier choices!
so far today i have had a piece of toast with scrambled egg on it and a banana! for lunch i am going to have a kale salad with a handful of almonds and a string cheese!
okay, so i didn't end up having the kale salad and almonds buttt here's what i did have for the rest of the day:
-big handful of trail mix (almonds, cashews, raisins, cranberry raisins)
-string cheese
-glass of orange juice
-strawberry banana lowfat yogurt
-boca burger on whole wheat bread w/ ketchup, lettuce, onion & a slice of cheese
-sweet potato fries roasted in a tiny bit of olive oil & paprika & salt & pepper
-big handful of carrots
-2 clementines
-27 cracker chips (100 calories)
okay, wow--that looks like a lot when i write it out but it was small portions and spaced out throughout the day and the majority of it was quite healthy. they really all would probably fit into meal sizes, but i like to snack throughout the day (which is not bad i suppose).
So...here's what I think I did great on today: I stuck to my portions with the foods I chose and I spaced out eating so I wouldn't starve between meals (which usually leads to snacking)
What I could improve upon: Perhaps staying away more from the processed chips! They don't have many calories, but I'm sure they aren't GREAT for me or anything. Also, watching what I eat...was that alot? I'm not sure...I'm trying not to count calories too much cause that always just leads to sadness.
CHEERS!

it's been quite a while...
so...it's been almost a year since i've posted last. i got married, started grad school, but am still a bonafied badass. well, i've kinda fallen off the bandwagon..not that i've gained any weight (i hope not) since last time, but i definitely haven't lost any. so, here i start again. AND THIS TIME I'M SERIOUS!
my main downfall is eating out...i will get chicken mcnuggets from mcdonalds, burgers/fries or a greasy sandwich from chilis, chips and salsa and cheesy enchiladas from casa ole..and the list goes on. and eating even one of those meals while eating healthy the rest of the day COMPLETELY throws me off because one of those dishes can have up to 2,000 calories--it's insane! so, i am trying to cut back on eating out and i am finding healthy options for when i do (for example, the margarita chicken at chilis is a great option as is the sweet chicken terriyaki at subway--thanks kathleen:)!)
Soooo...I worked out hardcore on Saturday...45 minutes of workout video followed by a jog (mostly walking..but hey, it's a start). I'm super sore so today (monday) i only did a small workout video that included some ab workouts. I forget what I have eaten the past 2 days, so I will start with today (so far):
Breakfast: PB&J, Strawberry banana yogurt
Lunch: 2 wasa crackers w/ salsa, slice of pork tenderloin, lime
At the end of each post I'm going to make a *how can I make this better* part:
I could have half a pb&j or use banana instead!
Also, I am going to have product reviews/recipes/fitness tips/my fitness & nutrition journey/cool articles I find, and ANYTHING related to being healthy physically, emotionally, spiritually! THIS IS A WHOLE BODY CLEANSING AND HEALTHING (lol--i made up that word) EXPERIENCE. So, raise your glass, because here's to health!!!

Day Four (I think?...I'm already losing track)
So today is day four. It's 9:39 am and I don't have class until 3:00...I love that feeling. Just found out my research class is going to be from 9:30-11:00 every friday and my next class after that isn't 'til 2:00. I was kinda bummed about that at first but I think I shall just make those 3 hours either study time or a combo of workout/study time...that way it will be beneficial and I won't just go home and crash!!! Anywho...more tonite!
Oooo and today I ate 2 bowls of cereal (Quaker Oat Squares with 1% milk), a yogurt, 2 small cups of Gatorade, and 2 small chicken fajitas!
